About Georgia State University Giving Day

Georgia State University’s second annual Giving Day was November 13, 2014.  On Giving Day Georgia State alumni, students, employees and friends from around the world joined forces to give back to their favorite areas and fuel the flame. From all of us at Georgia State: Thank you!

Giving Day Challenges:

By making a gift during Giving Day you can add even more fuel to the flame by participating in one of our many challenges!  Leadership donors have agreed to make generous gifts to certain areas if the challenges are met.

Overall Challenge:   If we have 200 donors give to any area during Giving Day, Jay Bernath with give $2,500 to university-wide funds.

Honors College Challenges:   If we have 20 donors give to the Honors College during Giving Day, Dean Berman with give $2,000 to the college.  If we have 5 donors from families of Honors students during Giving Day, Pete VanAmburgh will give $1,000 to the college.

School of Public Health Challenges:  Dean Eriksen is matching up to $1,500 in donations to the school.  He will match up to $500 in support from each of these three areas: alumni and students, faculty and staff and the school’s Board of Advisors.

What is Giving Day?

Georgia State University’s Giving Day 2014 is a 24 hour online fundraising campaign that encourages University alumni, students, employees and friends from around the world to give back and support your favorite areas.

When is Giving Day?

The event was be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 and was a 24 hour event starting at 12:01 AM and ending at midnight, EST.

Why is Giving Day different than any other day?

When we all came together to fuel the flame on November 13, Giving Day 2014 we proved that together we can make a difference.

 How can my gift be counted toward Giving Day?

On November 13, come back to this page and click on the “Make a Gift” button to make your gift and be counted in on Giving Day.

Where does my gift go?

You decide where your gift goes! You can choose to designate your gift to a specific school or college, athletics, the overall university or any other fund. You can browse our funds at gsu.edu/findmyfund. Whatever fund you choose, 100 percent of your gift will go to support that area.

Can I contribute to the Alumni Association?

Yes! You can designate your gift to an Alumni Association scholarship fund, however, Alumni Association membership payments will not count towards Giving Day totals.

Will my faculty/staff Campus Campaign gift count towards Giving Day?

Absolutely! Gifts from Georgia State employees made through the Campus Campaign on November 13, 2014 will count towards Giving Day.

How Can I Help Spread The Word?

You have the power to ignite the flame with your voice. Post about Georgia State Giving Day on all of your social networks using #FuelTheFlame. Is My Payment Secure?

Yes. All payments will be processed through our secure giving website.

Will My Gift Be Tax-Deductible?

Your gift will be tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the law.

Can I Make A Recurring Gift?

You can make a recurring gift online; however only payments made on November 13 will count towards Giving Day.
